About Tenancy Plus

Tenancy Plus is a support and advocacy program. It helps social housing renters to establish, strengthen, or maintain their tenancies. This program provides case management, advocacy, support and information. The aim of the program is to prevent homelessness and support renters to stay in housing.

Tenancy Plus support providers work with renters living in public and community housing. They create support plans tailored to the needs and goals of the renters. The plans can include their families.

Services provided through Tenancy Plus include:

  • advice on how to create sustainable tenancies
  • intensive help for renters at risk of losing their tenancy
  • help with making priority transfers
  • help with challenges like
    • rent arrears
    • VCAT hearings
    • mental health
    • drugs and alcohol
    • hoarding and squalor
    • behavioural breaches
    • family violence
  • connecting renters to a range of other support services in the local area.
