We convert some of our community facilities into 'cooler places' on days of extreme heat. We do this when the Bureau of Meteorology issues a heatwave warning.

We may also open our cooler places on a single day when the temperature is very high.

Cooler places are air-conditioned. They give public housing renters and residents relief from the hot weather. Cooler places help older and vulnerable people deal with the heat.

Heatwaves are 3 or more days in a row when the highest and lowest temperatures are unusually high.
